SUNSET SOUNDSCAPE SMOKING CEREMONY

SUNSET SOUNDSCAPE SMOKING CEREMONY

Saturday 25th February

1915-2015

Experience a once in a lifetime connection to source and country through the Sunset Soundscape Smoking Ceremony this CHI WOW WAH TOWN 2024.

On what will be one of the most magical experiences of the festival, we  will gather together at the wetlands on Saturday evening to watch the  sunset, ground and be welcomed to the land, and acknowledge our  connection as tribe through our traditional owners, all at the guiding  hands of AB Didj and Nikki from Yorta Yorta Nation.

Winton  Wetlands employs a Koorie Cultural Officer, Ms Nikki James, to assist  in ongoing efforts to encourage Return to Country, and incorporation of  Koorie perspectives into educational activities and other endeavours. Nikki James is a proud Yorta Yorta woman.

AB  Didj (Sean Candy) is a one of a kind one man didgeridoo band. His  unique soundscape experience has gained much recognition across the  globe and is recognised as one of the veterans of mixing didj with dance  music in the early Australian dance music scene. AB Didj blends sliding  didj with effects, synth, percussion, and mixed multi-layered sonic  beats, creating a spaciously deep journey that moves with the mind and  soul.

AB Didj will be performing a  special piece for the Saturday sunset smoking ceremony to create the  vibe for the evening, set against the awe-inspiring backdrop of the Lake Mokoan, Yorta Yorta Country.

We acknowledge that we meet and work on Yorta Yorta country and other indigenous lands across this nation, and the sovereignty of the land was never ceded. We pay respect to elders, past, present & emerging.
